Help flashing my lite on with latest firmware and also a question

I was wondering do i have to have a connectivity kit to flash my lite on drive with ixtreme lt because i use to do my benq without anything but a sata cable, Also is there any way if there is a way without any of that stuff can someone post a tutorial or help me in any way

is it weird if my drive has wires also connected  into the same place as the fan.

because my 2005 xbox 360 didn't have that and i wanted to make sure that it was alright.
